Economist Gabriel Galípolo, who went to the USP Law School to watch the pro-democracy letters read, says he was surprised to find the diversity of personalities in the same audience.
The event brought together names such as deputy Joice Hasselman, the president of Febraban, Isaac Sidney, former minister Marina Silva and singer Daniela Mercury.
He claims it looked like one of those dreams where several people from different backgrounds show up in the same place in an unlikely meeting.
“It was a demonstration of our ability to let go of what is particular, of each one, to defend what belongs to all of us, which is our common destiny as a society. And to say enough is enough to the absurd”, says Galípolo, who participates in the Fiesp’s economic council and works in Lula’s group of economic advisors.
This Thursday’s demonstration for democracy is considered the widest since the beginning of the Bolsonaro government. Several segments and ideological political currents joined the movement.
One of the documents presented at the event, the letter “In Defense of Democracy and Justice”, signed by around 110 entities, drew attention for bringing together representatives of industry, banks, trade unions and students.
