OFI lost the Balkan Cup and participation in this year’s Challenge Cup volleyball. The Cretans were defeated 1-3 sets by Steaua Bucharest in the final of the tournament held in Kakani, Bosnia, and will further focus this season on domestic competitions, with the Romanians finally getting the ‘ticket’ to the third-ranked European club.
OFI came very close, but missed a big chance to take the third set when they led 24-21 and had a total of 7 bowl sets to make it 1-2, but eventually lost it 29-31.
And in the fourth set there was a battle, with the Romanians again in the special conditions in the final prevailing 27-25.
Steaua led 1-0 (23-25) and OFI tied 1-1 (25-17) before the “thriller” of the last sets.
