In his related statement, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, Mr. Christos Triandopoulos, said: “The North Evia-Samos Pass action continues with particular success, in a context of close cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Governance and EDYTE.

The implementation of the innovative support scheme for North Evia and Samos – which have been affected by natural disasters – is progressing with the North Evia-Samos Pass, in collaboration with the Ministries of Finance, Digital Governance, Development and Investments and Tourism with the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, Christos Triandopoulos.

According to a statement from the Deputy Minister to Prime Minister Christos Triandopoulos, the scheme in question, which is implemented by the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures (EDYTE SA) “has, from the first moment, been well received by citizens who want to visit the two areas , while the third phase of distribution of immaterial digital debit cards begins on August 25, including the cards that were not used during the first phase”.

It is recalled that during the new phase of the action, each card finances the beneficiary with 150 euros for a holiday in North Evia or with 300 euros for a holiday in Samos, in the month of September, for accommodation, catering and local transport costs in the above affected areas. In total, through the https://vouchers.gov.gr platform, more cards will be made available than originally planned, as those that were not used by the beneficiaries during the month of July will be added to them.

In his related statement, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, Mr. Christos Triandopoulos, said: “The North Evia-Samos Pass action continues with particular success, in a context of close cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Governance and EDYTE.

With the second phase (that of the month of August) in full progress, the third phase – which concerns the month of September – begins with the submission of applications from August 25, with the aid through the immaterial digital card amounting to 150 euros for the North Evia and 300 euros for Samos. The action has already met with a huge response and this is proven by the fact that the cards of the first and second phases, for the months of July and August respectively, were sold out within minutes of the opening of the relevant platform. This is an action that benefits both the beneficiaries, who have an additional amount at their disposal to spend their holidays in North Evia and Samos, and the local economies of the two regions affected by serious natural disasters.

So far, a total of 18,075 cards have been issued, of which 12,050 for North Evia and 6,025 for Samos. Based on the latest data available for North Evia, 9,580 cards have been added to beneficiaries’ digital wallets and 7,777 of them have been charged for at least one transaction. For Samos, 5,110 cards have been added to the digital wallets of the beneficiaries and 4,462 of them have been charged for at least one transaction. Cumulatively, more than 2.2 million euros have been allocated directly, significantly supporting the tourist and economic activity in the areas in question, alongside, of course, the other relevant programs from the Ministry of Tourism and DYPA (former OAED).

In addition, any cards not used during the first phase, in the month of July, are carried over and become available again in the third phase. Therefore, North Evia will receive approximately 2,100 cards in addition to the 7,300 originally planned, while Samos will receive approximately 800 cards in addition to the 3,650 originally planned.

Thus, for the month of September, more than 9,400 cards of 150 euros will be available for North Evia and more than 4,400 cards of 300 euros for Samos. Cumulatively, for the month of September, the amount to be used through the North Evia-Samos Pass cards amounts to 2.76 million euros. Our aim is to exhaust the 6 million euro budget for the action and to pass the entire amount to North Evia and Samos, as their economies have been severely hit by the recent natural disasters. In this direction, the scheme continues in the month of October.

Thus, we contribute to the lengthening of the tourist season in these two areas and provide a substantial incentive for citizens to visit them, expecting, of course, to spend higher amounts than their equivalents secured by intangible digital debit cards. This specific action is part of the implementation of the coherent support and recovery plans designed by the government for North Evia and Samos, in order for both regions to recover as quickly as possible. We continue in close cooperation with all co-competent and interested bodies”.
