Amid the pressure that the health sector has been making against the new salary floor for nursing, SEESP (Sindicato dos Enfermeiros do Estado de São Paulo) says that hospitals should have prepared themselves.
“Instead of attacking nursing workers, who are the ones who turn the money into private and philanthropic hospitals, they should be negotiating with Senator Rodrigo Pacheco and the deputies to approve as soon as possible the sources to have funding and help to to pay for the approval of the salary floor. Playing on the back of the worker is very easy”, says Solange Caetano, secretary general of SEESP.
According to her, the demand for a new floor is already old, and the hospitals had time to prepare, but they believed that the law would not pass.
Caetano says that there are projects being processed in Congress that could be an alternative, such as PLP 205/2021, to include the sector among those benefiting from payroll tax relief, and PL 840/22, which increases taxation on ores and health funds.
These may be the way out for small private hospitals, philanthropic institutions and Santas Casas, according to Caetano.
“The initiative to demand this from parliament is mainly these institutions, which, instead of crying over spilled milk, had to go there and do the same thing we did: fight, mobilize, lobby deputies and senators”, he says. .
