Tony Ramos is touring Brazil promoting the film “45 of the second half”. There are many interviews and one subject has been inevitable: politics. At 74, the actor does not shy away from talking about the matter, but prefers not to reveal his vote. “I’ve never advertised for a candidate, I’ve never been on the platform and I never will,” he says.
Tony says he understands his colleagues who take a stand and raise the flag in favor of certain candidates. But this he does not. “I don’t like intimacy with politicians because I want to point out their mistakes, even if they are the ones I voted for”, he comments to the website Natelinha.
Protagonist of the feature directed by Luiz Villaça, the actor defines himself as a politicized person and says: the fact of not opening your vote does not make you less engaged. “It’s not because I don’t declare that I’m less political. I’m a political being and I’m interested in the candidate who invests in education.”
The actor doesn’t name the bull, but he leaves some clues: “I want change in this country. I want a plural country, with full democracy and education. We need to change to improve.”
He also comments that he does not like to see candidates mixing religion and politics. A Christian, Tony frowns at the unrestricted use of God’s name in the campaign for the upcoming election. “What I’ve always said is important and what interests me is who respects democracy and doesn’t just talk about God. God is important, yes, but not to be used by the State.”
Finally, Tony Ramos admits that he still has time to analyze the candidates and warns: “I don’t believe in empty promises from any candidate and I will analyze”, says the actor who has an exclusive contract with Globo until 2025.
In addition to Tony Ramos, Cássio Gabus and Ary França star in the film that also features Denise Fraga, Luiz Villaça’s wife, in a special appearance. The feature celebrates great friendships as a central rescue of human values and of what really moves us on a daily basis.
