Thousands of receipts lost in… delivery: 14 catering companies hid income of 5.2 million euros!

Through the delivery platforms, these businesses collected from their customers, but did not pay 592,000 euros of VAT to the tax authorities! A cafe in Crete hid 1.44 million euros in two years.

Impressive are the results of the Independent Public Revenue Authority’s audits of catering businesses, regarding by issuing receipts, when orders are placed through the delivery platforms. Based on the data, the auditors of AADE identified 14 catering businesses, which did not cut 449,000 receipts for total value orders 5.15 million euros! That is, these businesses collected from their customers, but did not report VAT to the tax office 592,000 euros!

It is indicative that a cafe in Crete hid 1.44 million euros in two years.

These are checks which:

  • They are targeted, i.e. the businesses, which are checked, have been selected through the special risk analysis algorithm.
  • They are carried out with the help of the data, which AADE constantly receives from the ordering platforms, and which are compared with the retail receipts, which have been cut for the specific orders.

Analytically:

  • A cafe in Crete, for the years 2019 to 2020, did not submit income tax and VAT returns, concealing revenues of a total value of €1,440,000.
  • In a restaurant in the Central sector of Athens, for the years 2019 to 2021, it was found that 91,300 tax items with a total net value of €685,000 had not been issued.
  • In a creperie in Epirus, for the years 2017 to 2019, it was found that 92,800 tax records were not issued, concealing taxable material of €400,000.
  • In a creperie in Thessaly, for the years 2018 to 2020, it was found that 40,400 tax data were not issued, concealing taxable material of €285,000.
  • In a refreshment center in Thessaloniki, for the years 2018 to 2020, it was found that 42,530 tax items had not been issued, with a total amount of concealed material of €270,000.
  • In a pizzeria in Magnesia, for the years 2018 to 2020, the non-issue was found in 20,300 cases, with a total amount of hidden material of €210,000.
  • In a refreshment shop, in the South sector of Athens, for the years 2019 to 2021, it was found that 62,340 tax items, with a total value of €200,000, had not been issued.
  • In a restaurant in Achaia, for the years 2017 to 2019, it was found that an unspecified amount of tax information was not issued, with a total amount of concealed material of €180,000.
  • In a restaurant in Achaia, for the years 2017 to 2019, it was found that tax information was not issued in 27,550 cases, with a total amount of concealed material of €175,000.
  • In a kitchen in Thessaloniki, for the years 2019 to 2022, it was found that tax information was not issued in 9,023 cases, with a total amount of hidden material of €166,000.
  • In a restaurant in Achaia, for the years 2017 to 2019, it was found that tax information was not issued in 38,700 cases, with a total amount of concealed material of €165,000.
  • In a restaurant in Achaia, for the years 2017 to 2020, it was found that tax information was not issued in 19,980 cases, with a total amount of concealed material of €161,000.
  • In a restaurant in Achaia, for the years 2017 to 2020, it was found that 3,409 tax items were not issued, concealing taxable material amounting to €138,000.
  • In a cafe in Ioannina, for the years 2017 to 2018, it was found that 734 tax items had not been issued, concealing taxable material amounting to €100,800.
