Wholesale electricity prices jump to 671 euros per megawatt hour tomorrow in Greece
An emergency meeting of energy ministers on September 9 was convened by the Czech Republic, which holds the presidency of the European Union this semester, as announced by the country’s Minister of Industry, Jozef Sikelá, on the occasion of the soaring prices of natural gas and electricity.
In the meantime, wholesale electricity prices in Greece will “climb” to 671 euros per megawatt hour tomorrow, while in France it will reach 744 euros and in Germany 660 euros.
On the same wavelength as the Austrian chancellor, Sikela stressed that he should disconnect the price of natural gas from the price of electricity and pointed out that a proposal includes enforcement ceiling on the price of gas used to generate electricity, as he had suggested a few months ago at the Summit
It is recalled that last week, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala had announced the convening of the session, while the Minister of Industry had stated that the European Energy Council should be convened as soon as possible, adding that “we are in an energy war with Russia and this is harming the whole of the EU”.
In fact, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis communicated with his Czech counterpart, reiterating that Greece supports society with national measures, but will continue to claim a European solution to the energy crisis, as no national budget can face this unprecedented crisis alone .
