The resources that will be allocated to Local Government in the near future, through the “Antonis Tritsis” program, are expected to reach a total of 4.1 billion, as announced by the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Stelios Petsas in a panel with the general director of APE-MPE , Emilio Perdikaris, in the context of the pioneering 2nd Digital Beach Summit, which is organized by the Municipality of Preveza on the first two days of September at the beach of Monolithi Preveza.
As the deputy minister emphasized, the digital and green transition of the municipalities are at the center of the actions and resources for their technological upgrade and to deal with the challenges of climate change for the benefit of the citizens and the protection of the environment.
Mr. Petsas emphasized that this digital transition contributes to the development of a different governance culture, since the accountability and transparency of the public administration increases.
In particular, he referred to the financing programs for the digital transformation of municipalities, emphasizing that, through the “Antonis Tritsis” program, 3.5 billion euros have already been absorbed and the final goal concerns an amount of 4.1 billion euros.
He also spoke about additional funding from the NSRF programs and the Recovery Fund to support the municipalities of the entire country, while underlining that the further acceleration and simplification of procedures is a bet for everyone and that the ministry is moving rapidly in this direction.
Mr. Petsas did not fail to mention the government’s targeting and increase in funding for social cohesion issues, which must go hand in hand with sustainable development, giving the example of nurseries, where this year no child was left out.
In closing, Mr. Petsas was optimistic about the future despite the unfavorable forecasts for this winter and emphasized that the government expects some temporary price increases in the fall due to imported inflation, while predicting a stabilization of energy prices, since Europe now seems ready to make serious interventions, as he estimated.
“All policies must focus on social cohesion, the environment and green development and permeate every initiative, establishing the future,” said the General Secretary for Digital Governance and Simplification of Processes, representing the prime minister. Leonidas Christopoulos. Regarding the conference, Mr. Christopoulos said that it is a first class opportunity for the image of Preveza to travel everywhere, but also to offer what the government has been trying to do in recent years: “The leap into the future”. While, he pointed out that the country has a modern institutional framework for emerging technologies as well as climate change” and added that there will be further opportunities through national and European policies, with the aim of sustainable development.
“When imagination is united with strategy, with self-confidence, faith and love for the place, then the vision becomes a project and action”, said the mayor of Preveza Nikos Georgakos, announcing the opening of the work of the Congress, speaking of a unique and original institution, which is going to be enriched even more in the coming years.
Regarding the projects implemented in Preveza, the mayor stated that “we continue planning vigorously and await the new tools”, pointing out that no one should be left behind in the digital and green transition to the new era.
The mayor of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas, spoke about the city’s future in a taped message. He said that digital transformation and green development are at the center of the municipality’s interest. For this purpose, more than 20 million euros are allocated to the municipality through programs, while at the same time, as he said, another 10 million euros will make Thessaloniki a “smart city”.
At the same time, he mentioned that projects for recycling, electrification and digitization of services are “running” and closed by saying that Thessaloniki will be among the 100 climate-neutral cities in Europe.
“We are here to provide a living example of the harmonious coexistence of the digital transition and nature. With self-confidence and new techniques, green and digital skills, let’s seize the opportunities of the new era”, said Dimitris Gerogiannis, initiator and project manager of the 2nd Digital Beach Summit.
