Former Nickelodeon star says he was strangled and stolen by his mother

by

Former Nickelodeon star Ashley Argota Torres, 32, revealed that he had lived an extremely troubled relationship with his mother during adolescence and youth. Known for playing Lulu in the series “True Jackson, VP”, the actress said she had constant abuses and episodes of physical violence – being the most serious of them when she was 22, after returning from a meeting with a castmate.

Ashley reported that that night her mother demanded that she take off her clothes to examine her and, in the face of refusal, left for the aggression. “That was ten years ago and, out of nowhere, she threw herself over me, cursed me, hit me and ended up strangling me,” he said. The violence was so severe that it left the actress with a vocal lump. The next day, she decided to leave the house: “I was afraid of losing my voice or forever carry a vocal problem.”

“I’m a mother now, so I have a new perspective on everything,” he said, referring to his 13-month-old son Michael. “I would never do with my son what my mother did to me,” he said in an interview with People.

Ashley’s trajectory started early: at 5 years old, and at 11 won the role of young people on the Broadway tour of “The Lion King.” Despite the success and money she earned throughout her career, the actress said she had never had access to her own bank accounts. “It didn’t matter when it was deposited, she spent everything,” he said.

In addition to financial control, Ashley recalls that her mother isolated her and still made constant criticism of her appearance, especially to her nose. “I had to sit and tighten the tip of my nose all the time because she said, ‘Your nose is very flat, you need to squeeze it,'” he said.

Today Ashley maintains zero contact with her mother and sees motherhood as part of her healing process. “I can create Michael the way I would like to have been created,” he reflected.
