Panel SA: Automakers do not embark on optimistic revision wave after GDP surprise

by

Contrary to a series of industries that raised their growth forecasts after the release of the second quarter GDP on Thursday (1st), the automotive sector did not revise its indicators for the year, according to Anfavea (association of automakers).

The entity says that the recovery is happening gradually, after a very bad first quarter.

In September, for the first time in months, there was no record of factories stopped due to lack of semiconductors, according to Anfavea.

However, to beat forecasts from the beginning of the year, the association estimates that the segment will need to sell around 9,500 vehicles a day. In January, the sector sold 6,000 units a day, on average. The highest level of the year was recorded in May and June, when around 8,500 cars were sold daily each month.

The expectation is that a return close to normality will only happen in 2024.

In the last two days, after the release of IBGE data, the segments of fabric, restaurants, plastic, medical devices, construction, footwear and safety equipment increased their growth expectations.
