The production of light and heavy vehicles followed the pace of sales in August. 238,000 units were manufactured, the best result in the last 19 months, according to Anfavea (association of automakers).
There was an increase of 8.7% compared to July and 43.9% compared to August 2021. In the year, there is growth of 4.7%.
The result is due to the improvement in the supply of components, mainly semiconductors.
“This is the first time that we have held a conference without stopping factories,” said Márcio Lima Leite, president of Anfavea. He recalled that, in the presentation of the July data, there were four factories stopped.
The entity has not yet made projections on the impact of the layoffs promoted by Mercedes-Benz in São Bernardo do Campo (Greater São Paulo). On Tuesday (6), the automaker announced the cut of 3,600 workers at its truck factory.
“Mercedes was one of the most verticalized companies in the segment, and now it has opted for this model of de-verticalization”, said Leite.
This Saturday (10), the executive travels to Japan with industry and government representatives. The objective is to attract suppliers for the production of semiconductors in Brazil.
There is already a project for the manufacture of these components in Minas Gerais, which is part of a new reindustrialization program promoted by the automakers. The company is called Unitec and is located in Ribeirão das Neves.
The president of Anfavea, however, says that the credit restriction and high interest rates already influence the market. Leite stated that, at the moment, cash sales represent 70% of the business.
Sales of light and heavy vehicles exceeded 200,000 units in August, something that had not yet occurred in 2022.
According to data from Renavam (National Registry of Motor Vehicles), the last month ended with 208,600 registrations. The number includes passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, buses and trucks. It is the best result since December 2020.
There was growth of 14.6% in relation to July. In comparison with August 2021, the increase is 20.7%. In the year, however, there is a drop of 8% compared to the first eight months of last year.
The entity, which in January believed in an increase of 8.5% in sales, revised its projections in July. Now a 1% growth in license plates is expected compared to 2021.
To achieve this goal, Anfavea made a projection of license plates for the coming months. The expectation is to register numbers close to 200 thousand units in September and October and above that number in the last two months, with a peak of 233 thousand licenses in December.
“We have some issues that could impact the second half, such as the World Cup and elections. Some impact will have, so we maintain moderate optimism,” said Leite.
Exports registered good results, despite the losses in the Argentine market. Influenced by Argentina. The accumulated for the year reaches 335 thousand units, up 32.2% compared to the first eight months of 2021.
