Apple’s iOS 16 lets users customize lock screen and edit messages

by

Apple released this Monday (12) iOS 16, a new version of the iPhone’s operating system. The update gained attention last Wednesday (7), when the company announced the new line of cell phones, watches and headphones.

Among the novelties, users of the brand will now be able to customize the lock screen, edit and delete data sent by the messaging app and create shared photo folders on iCloud.

iOS 16 is compatible with devices from the iPhone 8, released in 2017. On iPhones 14, announced last week, the update comes standard. For older versions (8, X, 11, 12, 13 and SE), users need to update the device in the mobile settings.

Now, the iPhone’s lock screen will have widgets indicating upcoming calendar events, weather forecasts, battery level, alarms, among others – features known for years by Android users.

In the iPhone messaging app, users will now be able to edit submissions within 15 minutes and delete within two minutes.

The so-called Live Text, a tool that recognizes text from images, now works with paused videos and has received improvements to convert currencies and translate texts from other languages.

Additionally, the iCloud Photo Library will allow users to create a shared library with up to six people. Members will be able to access, delete and edit photos and videos.

In the native email application (Mail), it will be possible to schedule messages in advance and undo the sending a few moments later.

iOS 16 was announced at this year’s WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference). The event is aimed at programmers and takes place annually at Apple’s headquarters in the United States.
