Heating allowance: Amounts, income criteria and for whom it is doubled – Examples

A beneficiary of the allowance heating, who lives permanently in the Municipality of Athens received last year, 300×0.43=€129.

(I remind you that since last year the new heating allowance calculation system has been in effect, according to which the territory has been divided into 200,000 squares in order to reflect as best as possible the geographical and climatic specificity of each place. Thus, each area gets a coefficient – ​​in our example the center of Athens has 0.43 – depending on the altitude, the distance from the sea and the number of days during the year when the temperature falls below 15.5 degrees, the so-called degree days). This year the base increases to €350 or 16.7% and therefore the same beneficiary will receive €150.5.

The amount is increased by 20% for each minor member of the family. With 1 child, the specific beneficiary will receive this year €180.6 with 2 children, €210.7 and so on.

In another example its unmarried resident Karpenisiou last year he got €324 in heating allowance, while this year he will get €378.

The big winners are those who are new this year they will abandon electricity or natural gas as a means of heating and they will – if of course there is a possibility – turn to heating oil, LPG or even pellets. And that’s because the calculation basis for them doubles in €700. In the example of Karpenisi, the beneficiary who will not use electricity or natural gas will not receive €378 but €756.

This category of winners also includes those who become beneficiaries for the first time this year because of it widening of the income criteria. And they are not few, about 500,000 new beneficiaries will receive the benefit for the first time as the income criterion for single people increases to €16,000 from €14,000. From €20,000 to €24,000 it increases for the married person and €3,000/child is added.

In addition, the government decided to subsidize the pump and horizontally heating oil by 25 minutes in an effort to make it even more attractive. The measure will take effect in October – the price of the subsidy will be reassessed month by month – and according to people in the market, if the distribution of heating oil started today then it would start at €1.60/litre in the major urban centers and it was perhaps more than €1.70/liter in the region.

In the same context, of the effort to “de-addiction” of citizens from natural gas and therefore electricity as a means of heating, the Ministry of Development is preparing a separate initiative so that prices do not “go away” in firewood and the pellet. A move that was deemed imperative as the prices are also increasing here day by day with the leadership of the ministry declaring that it will not allow speculative games.
