Berlin placed Rosneft subsidiary in Germany under surveillance

The PCK refinery is placed under the control of Germany’s federal regulator.

The Berlin raised today under supervision its German subsidiary of Russian oil giant Rosneftwith the PCK (Schwedt) refinery moving into federal regulatory control.

The refinery, which has a key role in supplying Berlin with fuel, has until now been majority-owned by Rosneft Deutschland, testing Germany’s resolve to end Russian oil imports by the end of the year.

The enforcement of German sanctions it is done under the framework of implementation of European decisions, in order to punish Moscow for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Bloomberg: Germany nationalizes natural gas companies

The German government is in advanced talks to buy three gas companies, Uniper and two other major importers, VNG AG and Securing Energy for Europe GmbH (SEFE), formerly Gazprom Germania, to avoid a collapse of the German energy market according to Bloomberg report.

As Bloomberg writes, the details have not yet been agreed, but a general framework is expected to be known in the coming days

Asked about nationalization plans, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck replied: “Things are complicated, we are working it out very carefully.”
