“From Saturday night (17), the Louvre pyramid will be turned off at 11 pm instead of 1 am,” the minister told France 2 channel, after similar measures taken by the Paris City Council, which this week decided to turn it off. earlier the lighting of the Eiffel Tower and the city hall.

“We will turn off the lights on the facade of the Palace of Versailles at 10pm instead of 11pm next week,” he added.

“Symbols are important to make the population aware,” said the minister, although she admitted that symbolic measures are not enough.

Rima Abdul Malak called for concrete ecological transition actions in museums, cinemas, theaters and in the “set of cultural sites in France”.

The mayor of the French capital, Anne Hidalgo, announced this week that the City Hall of Paris, the Eiffel Tower, the Torre de Santiago, municipal museums and district town halls will no longer be illuminated at night from September 23 to tackle the crisis. energetic.

Hidalgo also stated that the heating temperature in municipal buildings will be reduced from 19 to 18ºC during the day and to 12ºC at night and on weekends, when the buildings are empty.

The objective of the emergency plan is to achieve a 10% drop in consumption in the city, equivalent to “energy consumption in 226 schools”, said the mayor.

Energy prices, particularly gas, have seen a sharp rise in recent months due to the Ukrainian War.
