SA Panel: Nurses predict reduction of political use in category floor debate

by

Nurses’ representatives estimate that Bolsonaro, who sanctioned the new floor law for the category last month, has taken advantage of the agenda to campaign with workers, but estimate that political use will decrease from this week.

After the votes of Rosa Weber and Edson Fachin in the STF (Supreme Federal Court) against the suspension of the floor of the category, the score showed balance in the debate, which should alleviate the political burden of the subject by the government, in the opinion of Solange Caetano, secretary -general of SEESP (Nurses Union in São Paulo).

The two court ministers appointed by the president, Nunes Marques and André Mendonça, also voted against the suspension.

With the adhesion of Weber and Fachin to the movement against the injunction of Luis Roberto Barroso, which suspended the floor, the political appeal ends up being removed from the discussion, in Caetano’s opinion.

“It has seven votes against and four votes in favor of nursing, one of which is for the presidency. [Isso] opens a debate within the plenary itself”, he says.

By 7 votes to 4, the STF decided on Friday (16) to suspend the effects of the law that determines the national level of nursing in the country. The decision is valid until the financial impact of the measure for states, municipalities and hospitals is clarified. For this, several agencies will have a period of 60 days to clarify the feasibility of implementing the floor of R$ 4,750 without triggering mass layoffs and closing of beds.
