Skrekas: Scalable electricity subsidy from October

The Minister of Environment and Energy spoke of an “energy war” throughout Europe that does not leave us unaffected as a country.

The amount of new government subsidies on electricity and natural gas bills was announced by the Minister of Environment and Energy Kostas Skrekas.

The minister spoke of an “energy war” throughout Europe that does not leave us unaffected as a country and stated that the government has taken measures aimed at:
– Supporting citizens with affordable prices
– Energy efficiency
– Effort energy savings

According to the minister, from October the subsidy to electricity it will be scalable and proportional to consumption. The greater the energy savings, the more the subsidy will increase, while for those on the social tariff, 100% of the increase will be absorbed and they will be subsidized with 485 euros per megawatt hour.

There will also be a bonus for those who reduce their consumption compared to last year.

As for the natural gas the subsidy is estimated to continue to be horizontal without income criteria.
