The 0303 prefix, which became mandatory for telemarketing calls, will be responsible for closing 60,000 jobs by the end of September, according to estimates by the ABT (Brazilian Association of Teleservices).
The entity that represents the sector says that in July it registered 23 thousand layoffs. Most of them, about 80%, took place in São Paulo. In the Northeast region, considered an important hub for telemarketing companies, the state of Ceará cut 1,112 jobs.
According to ABT, since March, when the 0303 prefix became mandatory to identify telemarketing, between 40% and 50% of calls made are not answered by consumers.
Insurance operators, health plans, credit card administrators and telephone and internet services are some of the sectors that use teleservices and that have become more difficult to contact their customers.
The 0303 prefix became mandatory for active telemarketing calls, which is the practice of offering products or services. The determination came from Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency).
