Candidate for vice president on the ticket of Soraya Thronicke (União Brasil), Marcos Cintra, who once held the position of secretary of the Federal Revenue of the Bolsonaro government but was fired by the president in 2019, continues to raise the tone of criticism of the former ally. in the final stretch of your campaign.
If a second round comes between Lula and Bolsonaro, however, Cintra says she will vote for Bolsonaro.
His stance disagrees with the orientation of Luciano Bivar, president of his party, União Brasil, who has already signaled opposition to Bolsonaro for the second round.
“Faced with the alternative, I think that the Bolsonarista view suits my way of thinking more than the PT group. Not with my way of behavior, but of thought”, Cintra told Panel SA.
He points out that he considers Bolsonaro lacking the ability to be a true leader and lead the country on a path of continued progress and pacification, he says that the president’s means of debate are crude and low.
“In spite of everything, he thinks, almost instinctively, in a more liberal way in which I put myself. In the awkward and ill-mannered way, he respects certain things, such as freedom of expression”, he says.
Cintra also justifies his vote for Bolsonaro in the second round by saying that he considers there have been advances in the economic area, which he attributes to Minister Paulo Guedes and Roberto Campos Neto, president of the Central Bank.
“I speak very poorly of him, but I cannot fail to recognize that Brazil, in the conduct of economic policy, is doing well from this crisis. Of course, an account will come later, there is a criticism regarding the instruments that are being used. But I think the correct option has been addressed,” he says.
A historical defender of the return of the CPMF, Cintra uses social media to publicize his project of the so-called single tax, which he was unable to promote under Bolsonaro. In his most recent tweets, he said the tribute was almost adopted in the Bolsonaro government, “but the president’s ignorance, populism and lack of courage have blocked the debate”.
