The colder weather in the first half of September caused a drop in energy consumption in homes and small businesses, according to the CCEE (Chamber of Electric Energy Trading).
The decline was 1.2% in expenditure compared to the same period last year.
Also according to CCEE, the installation of solar panels also helped to reduce demand in homes and businesses. The entity says that, if it were not for this type of system, the segment would have a 1.3% growth in energy consumption.
In the free market, which includes consumers without the intermediary of distributors, the movement was the opposite, with an increase of 2.3% in the annual comparison.
Overall, energy consumption in the country remained stable, with an average demand of 65,000 megawatts in the first 15 days of September.
