The chaos generated in Congonhas this Sunday (9) due to an incident with a small plane boosted the occupation of hotels around the airport.
At the Ibis located opposite the airport, the capacity reached 87%. On normal days, the occupancy does not exceed 60%. According to management, afternoon shift workers extended working hours until the early hours of the morning to serve guests who had their flights rescheduled or canceled.
The Atlantica chain, which manages the ESuites and the Transamerica Executive in the region, says that the occupancy of the ESuites has reached 91%. On Sundays the average is usually 57%.
Early on Sunday afternoon, a small plane had one of its tires blown as it passed the main runway of the airport. All the flights of the day suffered some kind of alteration and the runway was closed for more than nine hours.
