Panel SA: Air sector expects Spain to bring actions to avoid new chaos when taking over Congonhas

by

After the incident with the private jet that caused chaos in Congonhas on Sunday (9), executives in the aviation market estimate that the Spanish group Aena, which won the airport in the August auction, should announce measures to mitigate similar problems in the future.

Sought by the SA Panel, the company claims that the management has not yet been transferred to the concessionaire, therefore, it is not up to her to answer about Congonhas airport at this time.

The incident with the small plane generated hundreds of flight cancellations with millions of losses and inconvenience to thousands of passengers, raising an old question in the sector about the presence in Congonhas of the so-called general aviation, a category that covers non-scheduled flights, of aircraft such as helicopters and private planes.

Abear (an association of airlines that brings together companies such as Gol, Latam and Voepass) says that it had already sent a statement to Infraero last month asking for the restriction of small planes on the main runway, especially at peak times, in order to avoid problems for commercial aviation passengers, such as what happened on Sunday.

One of the criticisms was the delay in resolving the situation. The plane took nine hours to remove.

Industry experts say measures such as the adoption of an Aircraft Recovery Kit used in Viracopos could help. The equipment, which is used to remove broken aircraft, arrived in Viracopos in 2013. The tool has a trailer, air bags, hydraulic jacks, compressor, steel hoisting straps and other accessories that can lift an aircraft of up to 223 tons, according to the airport.

Sought by the SA Panel, Infraero says that it “followed all the precautionary procedures required for the specific case, thus avoiding damages and greater risks”.
