Opinion – Vinicius Torres Freire: Justice delays, fails, country accepts and Bolsonarista dirty war dominates campaign

The inquiry into “fake news” was initiated by the Supreme Court three years and seven months ago. It hasn’t come to an end and it’s not even known where it’s at. Until now, it served to send messages when Bolsonarismo extrapolated, let’s say. Note the sinister grace of this phrase. Justice delayed, failed or did not exist, and thus contributed to the filth unleashed by this campaign.

It was not the only case of tolerance. Jair Bolsonaro (PL) tried the explicit coup (there would be no elections; if there were, the result would only be acceptable in case of victory, etc.). He insulted Supreme Ministers. He sponsored electoral changes to the Constitution. The dirty war of Bolsonaro’s eternal election campaign is only part of his unpunished program of disabling republican institutions.

Bolsonaro’s campaign consists of releasing poisonous gases and producing fog of war. It’s a combination of the toxic gas of lies and the dust of collective hallucination.

The campaign of lies against the polls was replaced by the orchestrated attack against the polls, led by the ultras and negotiators of the Bolsonaro parliamentary right, now with the help of CADE.

An attempt is made to create a trance with offensives that range from disseminating the idea that the opposition, Lula da Silva (PT) in particular, is an enemy of Christians, a candidate for prisoners and factions, to the promotion of moral panic.

The left would be a promoter of debauchery — the multisex toilet is the penis bottle of this election. In the same vein, for example, Damares Alves (Republicans, Universal’s party), former minister, senator elected by the Federal District, makes depraved speeches about young children trafficked by pedophile rape pimps.

Accused of prevarication (not taking legal action about it) or of lying, she retorts that she heard the story around, talks or says “wait for me”.

It is toxic fog of war, terror in a trance: we would be on the brink of final moral dissolution. Thus, it is necessary to join the frenzy of the “God, Fatherland and Family” campaign. In Rio Grande do Sul, Onyx Lorenzoni (PL) made a criminal mockery of the fact that Eduardo Leite (PSDB) is homosexual — the two dispute the state government.

Barely comparing, but not very much, are war crimes. Everything looks like psychological warfare operations, as researchers on the subject have observed.

Lula’s campaign turns to inventing something like a “letter to Christians”. But, as noted by the release of fake news checks, it shouldn’t have much, if any, effect.

Political communication and culture war operate in almost separate public spheres (“bubbles”), supported by “troops on land” (churches, shooting clubs, military garrisons, small town halls or also by threats in companies). The message doesn’t arrive or hits deaf ears.

There is no “Geneva Convention” (treaties which in part deal with war crimes) for this political conflict of ours. On the contrary, the electoral law becomes a rag.

In this climate of frank illegality, the toxic gas spreads. Part of the Lula campaign counterattacks with Bolsonarist weapons — this is the case of the André Janones guerrilla (Avante-MG). In order to increase and spread the impact, as many people do not have internet, the mud gushes out to TV and radio.

The situation is out of control and we don’t know how much (sewage runs through underground pipes). There are palliatives here and there, soon trampled by novelties in fraud or by the crime repeated under disguise. The majority and the powerful classes accepted the Bolsonarist terms. Now some engage in combat by the same means, to “avoid the greater evil.” Evil has already won.
