Alckmin uses networks to defend Lula’s economic program

by

Seen as one of the main links in the campaign of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva with the productive sector, former governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), the candidate for vice on the ticket, used his Twitter account to respond to accusations that Lula still would not have made clear his economic program and divulge points of the proposal.

“Lula presented the economic program very clearly. I will tell you what we are going to do for Brazil to return to the path of growth and prosperity. The first point is fiscal responsibility, which is non-negotiable”, wrote the candidate for vice president.

Lula has been criticized by various means for allegedly not having presented a concrete economic program, despite the fact that he himself and economists who help the campaign have spoken about various points of the PT proposal.

“@LulaOficial’s economic agenda will focus on competitiveness. Reducing the cost of production. Retaking our industry, employment and income. Debureaucratization and digitalization together with investments in infrastructure and logistics, facing the bottlenecks in the flow of our production”, he wrote.

This is an area that Alckmin is addressing directly. According to a source close to the former governor, it is up to him to talk to various economic sectors to gather suggestions for improving the business environment and pass them on to the organizers of the government program.

Alckmin also cites the need to expand international agreements to increase foreign investment, the need to improve youth education and access to technical and higher education, to improve employability.

The former governor also highlights the tax reform and says that a Lula government will adopt the proposal, already being processed in the Senate, to unify five federal taxes into just one, VAT, Value Added Tax.

“That’s why the most respected economists in Brazil, among them the fathers of the Plano Real, support @LulaOficial. We’re going to have a new tripod: credibility, stability, predictability,” he said.

Recently, several economists linked to the government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso and the formulation of the Real plan, such as Pérsio Arida and André Lara Resende, declared their vote for Lula.
