The percentage of families with insufficient food at home returned to the lowest level recorded by the Datafolha Survey. Still, practically a quarter of Brazilians say that the amount of food in the home in recent months has been less than enough.

The lack of food is mentioned by 24% of respondents, compared to 27% in the previous survey and 33% in the July survey, when the percentage reached the highest level in the series started in May 2021. The floor of 24% was also recorded in March of this year.

The institute heard 4,580 people in 252 municipalities between Tuesday (25) and this Thursday (27). The survey was commissioned by Sheet and by TV Globo and is registered under the code BR-04208/2022 at the Superior Electoral Court. The margin of error is two percentage points.

20% said the food was more than enough, compared to 16% in the September survey. The number is double that of the first time this question was asked by the institute.

The lack of food has become a common issue for Brazilians and a reason for dispute by the government.

“There is no real hunger, as it is said. What is extreme poverty? You earn US$ 1.9 a day, that’s R$ 10. Auxílio Brasil is R$ 20 a day. ventura is on the Mapa da Fome can register and will receive”, said the president in August.

The National Survey on Food Insecurity in the Context of the Covid-19 Pandemic in Brazil, by the Penssan Network, pointed out that 15% of Brazilians, or 33 million people, are in severe food insecurity in Brazil – a level similar to what had been recorded earlier. three decades.
