Protesters on Castelo Branco highway, in Barueri (SP), who followed the speech of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), this Tuesday (1st), claim that they will remain blocking the road.

“It was a very good speech, [Bolsonaro] said what we needed to hear. We will stay for 72 hours”, said Bruno Santos.

“It was very good. May he keep remembering who elected him four years ago, which was the Brazilian people. We will persevere. We believe in a revolution by January”, said Victória Marques, 24.

After the speech, protesters shouted “we’re not leaving” and applauded the passing of Shock Troopers.

In the first demonstration after the defeat to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), President Bolsonaro condemned roadblocks and spoke of indignation and injustice with the election.

“The current popular movements are the result of indignation and a feeling of injustice at the way in which the electoral process took place,” he said.

In a speech lasting about two minutes at the Palácio do Alvorada, the chief executive said that he was facing what he called the “system”, he did not mention Lula at any time or make a clear acknowledgment of the defeat last Sunday (30).

After trying to clear the undemocratic blockade at km 26 of Castelo Branco highway in Barueri, the riot police retreated and awaits further orders. The Military Highway Police also observes the actions of the protesters waiting for determinations.

Since Lula’s victory in the presidential race, Bolsonaro supporters, including truck drivers, have blocked or crowded roads in states and the Federal District, according to the PRF. Protesters call for a coup d’état.
