Ministers of the TCU (Union Court of Auditors) met, this Thursday morning (3), with Ministers Paulo Guedes, of the Economy, and Ciro Nogueira, of the Civil House, to deal with the transition of government between Jair Bolsonaro ( PL) and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

The meeting, behind closed doors, took place within the scope of the committee created by the TCU to monitor the transition. Guedes and Ciro left without speaking to the press.

“There is great receptivity on the part of the current government’s team, which wants to provide information. And I believe that this will happen in a serene and peaceful way”, said Minister Antonio Anastasia, from the TCU, who will be the rapporteur on the topic.

“The transition is fundamentally based on the exchange of information. What is the follow-up that we are going to do, is to follow, to ensure that the information flows in a timely manner, at the appropriate time, and that it is in fact what was requested”, he added. .

According to Sheet found, the conversation, initially, did not address topics such as the Budget, nor the Union accounts, but focused on ensuring transparency in the flow of information.

According to reports, Minister Jorge Oliveira, from the TCU, said he had already spoken with Bolsonaro and the idea is to make a peaceful transition. He was nominated by the president to the court, and is one of his first-time allies.

Also this Thursday, the TCU committee will meet with representatives of Lula in the transition of government, vice president-elect Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), Aloizio Mercadante, and PT president, Gleisi Hoffmann.

The conversations take place four days after the election results, at a time when Bolsonaristas are carrying out coup acts in several cities in the country, blocking roads and without Bolsonaro having publicly acknowledged his defeat at the polls.

According to Anastasia, however, government ministers assured that the transition will be peaceful. “A lot of goodwill”, said the TCU member, after the meeting.

Bruno Dantas, president of the court, and ministers Jorge Oliveira and Vital do Rêgo, respectively rapporteurs of the Presidency’s accounts in 2022 and 2023, also participated in the meeting.

“We had a meeting to present to the government ministers the committee that will monitor the transition,” said Dantas after the meeting.
