The dancing of chairs in the composition of the new government has already put the former governor of São Paulo, Márcio França (PSB) in the dispute for the Ministry of Science and Technology.
His name was being quoted for the Development and Industry portfolio, but it lost strength.
França is now preferred among the team close to Lula to run Science and Technology, having already served as São Paulo’s Secretary of Development.
At the time, some of the main teaching and research centers in the country were linked to its secretariat, such as Fapesp (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa) and IPT (Institute for Technological Research).
The PSB, the French party, wanted the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, a portfolio that will be recreated, but, in the composition of the new government, the elected president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva must delegate the nomination to Fiesp (Federation of Industries of the State of Sao Paulo).
The CNI (National Confederation of Industries), chaired by Robson Andrade, is also trying to sign the future minister. One of the names being considered is federal deputy Marcos Pereira, president of the Republicans. Pereira was once minister of the portfolio during the Michel Temer government.
However, according to Lula’s advisers, even if the name comes from the CNI, it will be up to Josué Gomes da Silva, president of Fiesp, to hit the gavel around the nomination.
Josué is Lula’s preferred name, but the businessman wants to run in the elections for a new term at the head of the federation and debunk the intentions of Paulo Skaf, who supported Bolsonaro and will enter the race.
