TV presenter and chef Bela Gil was appointed to integrate the technical core of the transitional government for Social Development and Fight against Hunger.

She is the daughter of singer-songwriter Gilberto Gil and became known as a soldier in favor of healthy eating. Bela Gil runs the Bela Cozinha program on GNT. The appointment to the group was signed by vice president-elect Geraldo Alckmin.

Bela Gil will be part of the same team as the senator and candidate for president this year Simone Tebet (MDB).

Bela Gil has supported elected president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) since the beginning of the campaign.

In February, PT and his fiancée, sociologist Rosângela da Silva, Janja, participated in a lunch organized by the presenter. The meeting brought together specialists and representatives of social movements to talk about food and hunger in the country.

On the occasion, Bela received guests at her Camélia Òdòdó restaurant, in Vila Madalena, in São Paulo. Among those present were economist Walter Belik, one of the creators of Fome Zero, advisor to the NGO Gastromotiva Georges Schnyder and the national director of the MST (Movimento Sem Terra), João Paulo Rodrigues.

At the time, Lula stated on his social networks that he had improved his speech on food. “I’m not just talking about people going back to eating barbecue, but also about the vegetarian people, who don’t eat meat, being able to eat a good organic salad”, wrote the PT.
