by

The Virtual University of the State of São Paulo, which offers distance courses for students in the interior of São Paulo, expanded its reach this year and reached 361 of the 645 municipalities in the state. The institution is managed by the state government in partnership with city halls.

Agreements with municipalities made it possible to install 412 face-to-face support units, of which 374 are already in place, according to the State Secretariat for Economic Development. These hubs offer students computers, internet access and space for exams and meetings.

Created in 2012, Univesp currently serves around 50,000 students, enrolled in courses in letters, mathematics, pedagogy, information technology, data science, computer engineering, biology, chemistry, physics, production engineering and technology in public management .

Municipalities interested in creating on-site units must fill in the form available on the university’s website, informing how many students they intend to attend and the size of the center they wish to create, according to criteria defined by Univesp’s Administrative Technical Council.
