Non-Census Delay
The country’s census should have taken place in 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic prevented the beginning of the population counting process, which takes place every ten years. In addition, the allocation of an amount lower than the request by IBGE also caused the postponement of the process, which would be carried out this year.
This Monday (13), in a statement, the institute reaffirmed that the amount needed to carry out the 2022 Demographic Census is R$ 2.292 billion, of which R$ 2 billion is already included in the Ploa 2022 (Annual Budget Law Project) and R$292.9 million were authorized by the Special Secretariat for the Treasury and Budget, which will come from the FGE (Export Guarantee Fund), supervised by the Ministry of Economy.
The release of values complies with determination of the STF (Supreme Federal Court). “The IBGE continues to work across the country in the various preparatory operational stages to deliver to Brazilian society a demographic census with technical quality and coverage in accordance with the credibility and reputation that the institute has built over its 85 years”, says the statement .
Fee refunds
IBGE began, on December 3, to refund application fees to candidates who would participate in the simplified selection process for the 2021 Census, which was canceled in October. To get the values, the worker must request reimbursement on the IBGE Portal.
According to the institute, the total will be refunded within 40 days after the request. The same orientation is also valid for reimbursement to those enrolled in the simplified selection process of the 2020 Census. The deposit will only be made in a current account in the candidate’s name and CPF.
