“Household basket”: Significantly reduced costs in most supermarkets

Most supermarket chains made new reductions of up to -11.3% in the total cost of the “household basket” based on the new price lists notified to the Ministry of Development and Investments today, Wednesday November 16, and valid for the third week implementation of the Government’s initiative (16-22/11/2022).

This is stated in an announcement by the ministry, while in his statement the minister Adonis Georgiadis said: “For the third consecutive week we succeed in reducing the “household basket” on average.

For yet another week we see lots of declines, little gains and declines in the overall “baskets”.

Our initiative is paying off for consumers.”

In detail, from all 816 products in the “household basket” that are completely comparable

-at 186, a rate of 22%, the price decreased

-at 555, 69% the price remained stable

-and only at 75, a rate of 9%, the price increased slightly in most cases.

As a result, the total cost of the “household basket” is significantly reduced in most supermarket chains with the largest reduction -11.3% in the My market chain.

It is noted that the Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiadis, as part of the government initiative for the “household basket”, is going to visit stores of the MY MARKET chains in Vrilissia and LIDL in Melissia tomorrow, Thursday, November 17.
