Patrick Bulus is one of the owners of Supermed, one of the great administrators of health plans. It serves Unimed-Rio, a network that is going through a serious financial crisis, and is currently being led by a nominee of the ANS (National Health Agency) in a kind of judicial recovery for health plans.
More than 14,000 customers have already left Unimed-Rio, which, in recent weeks, has been the target of a massive attack by Golden Cross, with attractive offers to change plans. Patrick Bulus’ mother, Neide, is the daughter of the owner of the Golden Cross.
Unimed-Rio currently has one of the highest claims ratios in the sector, which contaminates Supermed’s portfolio.
When consulted, Supermed denied having been the sender of the correspondence. According to the company, the practice is common among brokers, which trigger offers from various health plans to their customer bases.
Unimed-Rio said that sending offers is a common practice in the market.
“Each one plays their game. I also look at the price of the competition, see which product they have the most weakness in and say: ‘here it is, broker. Offer it to the customer and see if he doesn’t want to change'”, says Rafael Oliveira, marketing manager at Unimed Rio.
Golden Cross said it was unaware of sending offers to the competitor.
