The IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) will hire more 206,891 professionals to work temporarily in the 2022 Demographic Census. In all, there are 183,021 vacancies for census takers, 18,420 for the role of ACS (supervisor census agent) and 5,450 for ACM ( municipal census agent).
The organizer of the contest is FGV (Fundação Getulio Vargas) and entries can be made on the website Conhecimento.fgv.br/concursos from 4 pm this Wednesday (15th) until December 29 of this year. The registration fee is R$57.50 for enumerator and R$60.50 for agents.
There is still no date forecast for the start of work, but the intention is that, from June, the procedures should start. As a result, the census will be carried out in the second half of this year.
In the case of enumerators, there are chances in 5,297 municipalities in the country. At the time of registration, the worker must inform the municipality in which he/she wants to work and the city where he/she will take the test. The role requires fundamental level. The other vacancies are for professionals who have completed high school and positions are available in 4,409 cities.
Salaries offered vary. For enumerator, payment will be based on production. Remuneration can be simulated on the website https://censo2022.ibge.gov.br/trabalhe-no-censo/estimativa-de-remuneracao.html. The weekly workload is indicated in 25 hours of work. You must inform the municipality and how many hours you intend to work. In the case of ACM, the remuneration is R$1,700. For ACS, the salary reaches R$ 2,100. In both functions, the working day is 40 hours a week.
The tests must be applied on March 27, 2022, in two shifts: in the morning and in the afternoon. Anyone who wants to compete for two different positions, for example, can take the tests at different times. The forecast is that those approved work for up to three months in home collection.
2022 Census will have telephone collection
According to the IBGE Deputy Director of Research, Cimar Azeredo, in addition to the security procedures against Covid-19, such as using a mask, alcohol and minimum distance, there will be the option of answering the census questionnaire in person, by telephone or even fill in the questionnaire over the internet.
“These three forms of collection will be used during the operation of Census 2022. In any case, the census taker will have to go to the home, either to carry out the interview on site, obtain the resident’s telephone number or provide the link and the access key to the questionnaire so that the resident himself fills out the questionnaire over the internet. The IBGE is going to visit more than 70 million households. We are working so that the survey that portrays the country is carried out with safety for everyone”, says Azeredo.
Censors will be trained in person
The IBGE maintained the in-person training for those who will work on the 2022 Census. There will be a first phase, which is the reading of the training material, which can be done remotely. In the second phase, on-site training will take place, with eight hours of classes per day, for five days.
At the end of training, the candidate will take a new test. This stage is also eliminatory. Bruno Malheiros, IBGE’s human resources coordinator, affirms that the in-person training will follow all the rules of protection against Covid-19 and reinforces that working on the census is a very important activity for the entire country. “It is an essential work, which all IBGE employees are very proud of,” he said at a press conference this Wednesday morning.
Two other contests are open
On Tuesday (14), IBGE opened registrations to hire more temporary workers for the 2022 Census. There are two selection processes that add up to 1,812 vacancies. In all, there are 31 posts for the position of area census coordinator, with a salary of BRL 3,677.27, and 1,781 vacancies for census agent for administration and information technology, whose monthly remuneration offered is BRL 1,700. All require high school.
The IBGE census should have taken place in 2020, but, because of the coronavirus pandemic, it was not possible. This year, the lack of budget funds on the part of the federal government prevented the population counting from being carried out every two years. The amounts were released only after the STF (Supreme Federal Court) was called.
