RAE determines the sequence of interruption of supply to industrial natural gas consumers, in the event of a supply crisis, with a draft decision submitted to public consultation.

According to the relevant text, the industrial facilities that are characterized as of the highest importance and will suffer the last supply interruption are those related to the protection of the energy supply (fuel), public health, security and defense of the country.

The ranking follows the following cases:

  • Facilities that, in the event of a supply interruption, will suffer catastrophic damage to equipment or infrastructure.
  • Food, pharmaceutical, personal hygiene industries and the supply chain of the above.
  • Industries that, in the event of a supply interruption, will suffer a loss of raw materials or the production of an unsuitable final product.
  • Industries where interruption of supply will result in production line interruption.
  • Industries that have the ability to reduce gas consumption by a percentage, upon timely notification.
  • Natural gas supplies with the possibility of immediate fuel exchange and other supplies.

RAE clarifies that the list excludes small and medium-sized enterprises with an annual contracted consumption of less than 10,000 MWh per year, which fall under the category of protected consumers.
