In October 2022 alone there was a “jump” of 121 million euros

Deposits of households and private non-profit institutions increased by 121 million euros in October 2022, compared to an increase of 753 million euros in the previous month, while the annual rate of change decreased to 4.3% from 4.6 % last month.

Thus, according to the data of the Bank of Greece, since the beginning of the year, household deposits have registered an increase of approximately 4 billion euros, as at the end of October household deposits reached 138.8 billion euros from 135 billion. euros, which was at the beginning of the year.

However, overall deposits from the private sector decreased in the same month by 550 million euros due to the decrease in deposits from businesses by 671 million euros.

It is recalled that last month business deposits showed a decrease of 671 million euros, against an increase of 1,502 million euros the previous month, while the annual rate of change decreased to 11.1% from 11.5% the previous month. In particular, MXE deposits decreased by 678 million euros, compared to an increase of 1,879 million euros in the previous month.

Deposits of insurance companies and other financial institutions increased by 6 million euros, against a decrease of 377 million euros in the previous month.

General government deposits also decreased by 322 million euros in October 2022, compared to a decrease of 448 million euros the previous month, and the annual rate of change decreased to -4.9% from 3.3% the previous month month.

On the lending side, the annual rate of change in total private sector financing eased to 5.3% from 6.0% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of total financing to the private sector was negative by €898 million, compared to a positive net flow of €752 million in the previous month.

In more detail, the monthly net flow of financing to businesses, in October 2022, was negative by €665 million, compared to a positive net flow of €723 million in the previous month, while the annual rate of change decreased to 11.3% from 12.5% ​​in the previous month.

In particular, the annual rate of change in the financing of non-financial corporations (NFCs) decreased to 10.8% from 12.3% in the previous month. Their monthly net funding flow was negative €606 million, compared to a positive net flow of €745 million the previous month.

The annual rate of change in the financing of insurance companies and other financial institutions increased to 16.5% from 14.9% in the previous month. Their monthly net funding flow was negative €60 million, compared to a negative net flow of €22 million the previous month.

The monthly net flow of funding to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €153 million in October 2022, compared to a negative net flow of €27 million in the previous month. The annual rate of change in their funding was almost unchanged at -2.3% from -2.2% the previous month.
