Caixa president forces bank executives to do push-ups

The president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Pedro Guimarães, forced bank executives to do push-ups and give stars, such as Olympic gymnasts, during Nação Caixa, the bank’s annual event held at the Hotel Bourbon, one of the best in Atibaia, in the interior of São Paulo .

Recorded this Tuesday (15) by employees, the video went viral on social networks after a post by the bank workers union and after publication by the Metrópoles portal. The bank’s president, Pedro Guimarães, appears in charge of some of its main executives with a motivational tone.

The video begins with an employee being encouraged to give a star under the command of a child who, apparently, is a gymnast. She fails and is replaced by a second employee who also gives up. Finally, a third party performs the move clumsily.

In another scene, towards the end of the video, Guimarães profiles some executives to do push-ups. He counts up to the tenth flexion, when he interrupts the series.

Sought, Caixa declined to comment.

Caixa’s annual meeting has been taking place since Guimarães took office in 2019. At that time, president Jair Bolsonaro even spoke in a motivational tone.

This time, Guimarães imitated Bolsonaro who, in repeated events, encouraged those present to do push-ups. It was like that with the governor of São Paulo, João Doria, in June 2019 and, more recently, at the graduation of Federal Highway Police officers, in Santa Catarina, in November 2020.

People close to him claim that Guimarães has a personal project to be vice-president for Bolsonaro, who will run for re-election in 2022. For that, he designed Caixa projects that, in addition to generating revenue for the bank, brought him closer to Bolsonaro.

Among them are the Caixa Tem application, which allowed the payment of emergency aid and which brought thousands of new customers to the bank; lower-interest housing credit for the military and police, an important base of support for the president.
