441,568 workers have PIS/Pasep allowance to withdraw until December 29

by

Public and private workers have R$ 387 million in salary bonuses that can be withdrawn until December 29th. The amount comes from PIS and Pasep referring to the months worked in 2020.

Data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security show that 134,700 PIS allowances (in the total amount of BRL 108.3 million) and 306,800 Pasep allowances (in the total amount of BRL 278.5 million) have not yet were withdrawn. The numbers are equivalent to 1.7% of the allowances paid in the base year of 2020.

The Pasep is intended for workers in public or mixed companies enrolled in the program, while the PIS is intended for workers in private companies that comply with the rules.

Who is entitled to withdraw?

The allowance has existed since 1970 and is granted to workers who:

  • have been enrolled in the program for at least 5 years

  • received an average of up to 2 minimum wages in the base year

  • have worked at least 30 days

  • have the data informed by their employers in Rais (Annual Social Information Report)

In March, after reviewing the registrations, 1.7 million workers were included in the 2022 bonus payment list, referring to the year 2020.

How much is the allowance?

The benefit depends on the number of months worked, but can reach a minimum wage (R$ 1,212). Each month worked is equivalent to a credit of R$ 101.

How to withdraw Pasep?

Banco do Brasil is responsible for making the payment of Pasep. Customers of this bank receive the credit directly into their checking or savings account, automatically.

Money can be withdrawn at an ATM or transferred to an account held by the same person at another institution. The withdrawal can also be made upon presentation of an official identification document.

How to withdraw PIS?

PIS can be withdrawn at Caixa Econômica Federal branches. Credit is made to a checking or savings account.

Money can also be deposited in digital social savings accounts and moved using the Caixa Tem application. Withdrawals can be made at self-service terminals, lottery shops, CAIXA aqui and branches, using the citizen’s card.

If the worker is not in possession of the card, the withdrawal can be made at Caixa branches, with the presentation of an official identification document.

What to do if you do not receive the allowance?

Workers who have not withdrawn the salary allowance within the annual calendar can use the Alô Trabalhador channel, on telephone 158, to consult the right to receive it and how to withdraw it.

Workers who believe they are entitled to receive it, but who have not entered the payment list, can also use the Alô Trabalhador channel or file an appeal through a form on the government website. When ordering, you will need to provide:

  • CPF number

  • full name

  • email

  • telephone

  • state where you live

  • in the subject field, indicate the item “7 – RAIS/Salary Bonus”

  • in the message field, inform the reason for requesting the allowance

On the last 17th, Caixa released an extra batch of PIS for 1.1 million workers who requested a review of the value or who had old allowances that were not withdrawn.
