The rate of unemployment in the country rose to 11.6% in October this year, compared to the downwardly revised 13.3% in October 2021 and the upwardly revised 12% in September 2022.

The unemployed amounted to 542,941 people, marking a decrease of 78,425 people compared to October 2021 (12.6%) and by 26,465 people compared to September 2022 (4.6%).

For women, the unemployment rate rose to 15.6% (from 17.6% in October last year) and for men to 8.4% (from 10%).

According to large age groups, in the 15-24 year old group the unemployment rate is 27.3% from 32.3% and in the 25-74 age group to 10.7% from 12.3%.

Also according to ELSTAT’s monthly labor force survey, the employed amounted to 4,138,113 people, marking an increase of 99,900 people compared to October 2021 (2.5%) and a decrease of 37,032 people compared to September 2022 (0 .9%).

While, people under 75 not in the labor force, or “people outside the labor force” (ie people neither working nor looking for work), amounted to 3,139,103 people, a decrease of 53,394 people compared to in October 2021 (1.7%) and an increase of 60,507 people compared to September 2022 (2%).
