Within the first half of 2022, the new increase of the minimum wage will be decided, as the Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Kostis Hatzidakis, stated to SKAI and the show “Unmatched”.
“The process of raising the minimum wage will begin in the new year and will take a few months, as there will be consultation with social partners, the Bank of Greece, the KEPE and then I will submit my proposal as Minister of Labor to the Council of Ministers. . From 1/1/2022 the small increase of 2% that we announced in the summer is valid anyway and within the first half of the year the decision will have been made for the new increase, which will be a reflection of the course of the economy and growth “, He stated characteristically.
Asked about the budget lines that will be directed to the Ministry of Labor, he said that they amount to about 22 billion euros and if one subtracts the expenses related to the coronavirus, it will be 2 billion euros or 10% more compared to 2019. “And I say that because from the side of SYRIZA there is a criticism that we do not care about society. This money will be given to OAED actions, unemployment benefits, the minimum solidarity income, welfare benefits, while we also have a new fund for the second opportunity. Respectively, for the pensioners it is 336 million euros more than last year because more pensions will be given. “Increases have already been given with the Vroutsis law, for a number of pensioners who corrected injustices of the Katrougalos law”, pointed out Mr. Hatzidakis.
He added that the ministry’s priorities are to close the issue of outstanding pensions, stressing that in 2019 there were 130,000 decisions on outstanding pensions, in 2020 it was 161,000 and by the end of November they had exceeded 200,000, which according to the minister is an all-time record.
He clarified that there is no question of raising the age limit on the horizon and the Prime Minister’s mandate is to move quickly the new fund (TEKA) for the supplementary pensions of young people, who will have the individual piggy bank.
Finally, regarding the digital work card, the minister stressed that it will cause a revolution in the labor market. “All the research shows that the biggest problem is undeclared work. “With the work card, it will be checked when the employee arrives at work, when he leaves, what overtime he does and no one will be able to steal him”, he clarified and added that he will start operating from the largest companies (banks, supermarkets) from June of 2022.
