‘PT does not have an Ipiranga post’, says Nelson Barbosa amid uncertainty about minister

by

The PT does not have an “Ipiranga post” said, this Tuesday (6), former minister Nelson Barbosa, member of the coordination of Economy of the transition of government, emphasizing that the party “discusses everything” and does not have an individual reference for your policies.

President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has been asked to present the name that will lead his Ministry of Economy, but he has already stated that he will make the nominations only after his graduation next week.

The nickname Ipiranga was given to Paulo Guedes when he took over the Ministry of Economy from Jair Bolsonaro in 2019, as he had supposed autonomy to conduct all areas of government economic policy.

In an event for the newspapers O Globo and Valor Econômico, Barbosa also stated that given the budget situation the country is in, short-term fiscal flexibility will be necessary, in addition to a medium and long-term fiscal program that, according to him, will be the subject of suggestions of the transition team on Monday (5).
