The government already has a calendar for payment of the PIS and Pasep salary bonus for 2023. The proposed dates will be evaluated by Codefat (Deliberative Council of the Worker’s Support Fund) in an extraordinary meeting on December 15, according to representatives of union centrals .

The payment dates were presented this Thursday (8) to the members of the council, which has representatives of workers, employers and the government.

According to the proposed calendar, the PIS allowance for the year 2021 begins to be paid on February 15, for those born in January, and has new releases until July 17, when the last batch is paid, for birthdays from December. Two batches are released each month and the worker can receive up to a minimum wage allowance.

Contacted at 5 pm, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security did not respond until the publication of this text.

According to Sérgio Luiz Leite, representative of Força Sindical in Codefat, the dates proposed by the government will have to be evaluated by the council members.

The latest calendar was unanimously approved by the board.

“In my opinion, this calendar could be shortened further. The sooner money is injected into the economy, the better for Brazil,” he says.

One of the points that the centrals demand is that the money be available to all beneficiaries in the first semester. In the 2022 calendar, however, deposits were made more quickly: the releases were all made in February and March and the last batch was credited on March 31. For those who are entitled and have not yet received the salary allowance for the year 2020, the deadline ends on December 29th.

According to Renan Arrais, representative of the CTB (Central dos Trabalhadores e Trabalhadores do Brasil), this year there are a series of difficulties with the 2023 Budget, so at first he did not identify resistance from the centrals to the dates proposed by the government. “The tendency I feel is to be approved unanimously, as is traditional”, he says.

Who is entitled to the allowance

Employees enrolled in the program for at least five years and who have formally worked for at least 30 days in the base year of 2021 are entitled to the PIS/Pasep salary bonus to be released in 2023. In addition, the average monthly remuneration must be of up to two minimum wages in the reference year and the employer must have correctly informed the employee’s data in the Rais (Annual Social Information List).

The payment of the PIS allowance, due to workers with a formal contract, is made by Caixa, and that of Pasep, due to professionals from public bodies that fit the rules of the program, is released at Banco do Brasil.

Before the changes in the bonus payment system, deposits were released from July of one year to June of the following year.

The calculation of the allowance considers 1/12 of the minimum wage valid on the payment date, multiplied by the number of months worked in the corresponding year, rounded up, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

If the beneficiary worked throughout 2021, he will receive a minimum wage allowance. The value of the minimum wage in force in 2023 will be considered. Fractions of 15 days or more are considered as 30 days.

Payment of the allowance already released

Public and private workers have R$ 387 million in salary bonuses that can be withdrawn until December 29, according to data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. The allowance being paid refers to the days worked in 2020.
