Panel SA: Covid, Black Friday and football game increase demand for travel insurance

The opening of borders and the resumption of tourism have driven the search for national and international travel insurance in companies in the field.

At SulAmérica, there was a 373% growth in the issuance of travel insurance premiums in November, compared to the same month in 2020. In the year, the performance until November was 40% higher than in 2020.

Policy sales rose nearly 90% in the last month, driven by Black Friday, and 37% of new customers purchased coverage for Covid-19, which includes extended stays and return of companions.

Allianz Travel registered a 180% growth in hiring the modality in the second half of 2021, compared to the previous period.

In comparison with the same semester last year, the increase was 400%, both for domestic and international travel, driven by the liberation of the American borders, in September.

According to the insurance company, only in November there was a 600% growth in premiums compared to the same month in 2020, and the forecast for next year is a 60% increase in the hiring of travel insurance.

At Porto Seguro, the issuance of premiums rose 171% in November, with emphasis on international travel plans, which increased 298% compared to the previous month.

Insurance for travel to other neighboring countries advanced more than 1,300% last month, because of the games in the final of the Libertadores, in Uruguay, and the Copa Sudamericana, according to the insurance company.
