Pro-quota holders will be able to use FGTS to deduct up to six overdue installments of their own homes

The balance of the FGTS (guarantee fund) can be used to write off up to six overdue installments of home ownership, by the SFH (Housing Financial System). The decision was taken this Tuesday (13) by the Board of Trustees of the FGTS and is valid from January 2023.

The measure definitively changes the law that limited the use of the guarantee fund to up to three overdue installments. The other rules remain in effect.

On April 19 of this year, the council had released the use of the FGTS to pay up to 12 overdue installments. The defaulting borrower who plans to negotiate more than six overdue installments has until December 31 of this year to negotiate with the bank where he has the mortgage.
