Among the nods he made to the market this Wednesday (21) during lunch with businessmen at Esfera Brasil, the future president of the BNDES, Aloizio Mercadante, also defended the concessions. He said that they are a successful model and that the PT governments made more concessions than the Bolsonaro and Fernando Henrique administrations.
“In many areas, the concession is welcome, and the BNDES can help design the project. It can even innovate in the form of financing,” he said.
“For example, instead of demanding the company’s guarantee, you have the toll itself as a guarantee. So, the payment of the financing is guaranteed”, stated Mercadante.
In his defense of road concessions, he also said that Dnit (National Department of Transport Infrastructure) does not have the resources to maintain federal roads. “A bridge collapses, there’s a hole in the road, etc., the state doesn’t have the conditions,” he said to businessmen.
At the Esfera event, which was seen as a chance to smooth over rough spots after the negative repercussions with which the market received his nomination, Mercadante also said that he does not want the BNDES from the past, praising small companies and the green economy.
As anticipated, Panel SA invited names from the new board of directors of the bank, such as José Gordon (Embrapii), Natalia Dias (Standard Bank), and Luciana Costa (Natixis).
