Increased compared to December are the electricity tariffs announced by suppliers for January.

The Minister of Environment and Energy K. Skrekas will announce at 9:30 am the new subsidies on electricity prices for the month of January.

Increased compared to December are the electricity tariffs announced by suppliers for January.

The increase in tariffs reaches 29% and is a result of the increase in the wholesale price of electricity in the Next Day Market of the Energy Exchange.

Accordingly, it is estimated that the subsidies that will be announced by the government will be increased as the goal is for the final consumer price to vary between 15 and 19 cents/KWh.

The new charges of PPC for the residential tariff are set at 48.9 cents/KWh for consumptions up to 500 KWh and at 50.01 cents/KWh for consumptions over 500 KWh. The increase is of the order of 29%.

It is recalled that the corresponding charges of PPC for December were 38 cents/KWh for consumptions up to 500 KWh and at 39.2 cents/KWh for consumptions over 500 KWh.

The tariffs announced by private suppliers range from around 36 cents/KWh (this price includes a consistency discount) up to around 52 cents/KwH with most companies setting their tariffs around 46 cents/KWh.
