by

The proximity of the inauguration of president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), on January 1st, boosted hotel prices in Brasília at the turn of the year.

A few days before the event, most of the rooms still available are outside the hotel sector, such as in Águas Claras or Park Way, administrative regions of the Federal District about 20 kilometers from the esplanade, according to research carried out by Panel SA in three of the main sites that intermediate reservations for the night of the 1st.

Among the accommodations that still have vacancies, many with daily rates above R$ 1,000, there are cases of establishments with around 85% of vacancies unavailable.

After the transmission of the office, the official part of the date, there will be a festival on the Esplanada dos Ministérios, with concerts. Caravans have been organized to participate in the event.

Until the 15th of December, the ABIH (Brazilian Association of the Hotel Industry) in the DF already accounted for around 90% occupancy with reservations for the New Year’s Eve period. Some establishments were already sold out, according to the entity.

Buser, a road travel platform, also registered, in December, a 10% increase in demand for reservations for trips to Brasília, compared to November. According to the company, most passengers bound for the federal capital will depart from Belo Horizonte (MG), São Paulo (SP), Goiânia (GO), Uberlândia (MG) and Campinas (SP).
