After the new government takes office, the health sector is preparing to take its demands to the future Minister Nísia Trindade. In addition to topics such as reviewing the SUS table and lack of medication in hospitals, the focus should still be on the source of funding for the nursing floor.
Sanctioned by Bolsonaro in August and suspended by the STF the following month, the new national nursing floor is the sector’s biggest complaint at the moment.
The law does not indicate the cost of wages, which caused a chain reaction of employers against the floor. The case is under analysis by the STF, but Congress approved two amendments last week that unlocked public funds to pay for public hospitals and SUS care networks.
Bodies such as CNSaúde (National Health Confederation) and Abrasf (Brazilian Association of Capital Finance Secretaries) claim that the money indicated does not exist. With the minister in office, the expectation is to review the nursing funding sources and end the legal dispute.
“Our question is where the money will come from”, said Breno Monteiro, president of CNSaúde.
According to him, the Health transition group set up to help the Lula government heard the sector’s complaints, however, the final report did not point out the problems indicated by the specialists.
