Student Gregori Miranda is a 26-year-old transsexual man who has faced prejudice in different jobs. After working odd jobs during his youth, he landed an internship.

“A People talk so much about a place of difficulty, but we also forget that we are powers. That we are enhancers”, says he, who currently works in the social repair area of ​​99jobs, a recruitment company.

Geovanni Giuliani, 27, is also a trans man who had to assert himself to gain the respect of office colleagues. “People are looking for ‘passability’. They are looking for you to be a ‘passable’ person in society, for you to really appear to be what you say you are,” he says.

Although far from ideal, the debate on diversity in companies — which includes not only trans people, but blacks, women, among other aspects — has advanced.

This is what Danielle Torres, a trans woman and partner-director at KPMG Brasil, says, is a multinational that works in the areas of auditing and consulting.

For her, the current situation “does not compare with what it was five or ten years ago”. “But that doesn’t prevent us from recognizing that there is still a long way to go, right?”, he adds.

But after hiring, what’s next? “What occupies a lot of what I think is how the growth of these young people and young women who are starting their professional careers will be?”, asks Danielle.

“[Tem que] there is a safe environment where they [jovens trans] realize that their skills are valued, and that they also find opportunities for growth. That’s what will bring them closer to leadership roles.”

The episode also features an interview with lawyer Márcia Rocha, the first trans woman elected to the board of OAB-SP (Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil in São Paulo). She is one of the founders of Transempregos, a project that offers lectures, professional training and job openings for the trans population in Brazil.

“A trans person is part of human diversity. Companies are understanding that the more diversity they have, the better the work”, says Márcia.
