See the payment dates for INSS pensions and benefits in 2023

by

Retirees, pensioners and beneficiaries of INSS (National Social Security Institute) aid can check the payment dates for the coming months to plan expenses for 2023. The year begins with 37 million beneficiaries of the institute in the country.

To confirm the day on which he will receive the social security income each month, the insured person must check his benefit number, which has ten digits and appears in the following format: 999.999.999-9, and consider the penultimate number. According to the INSS, for whom a benefit has been available for some time, the usual date is valid.

Payment for each competency is made in the following month. The first, referring to January benefits, will be carried out between January 25th and February 7th for those who receive the minimum wage _almost 70% of beneficiaries. In the case of beneficiaries with income above the minimum wage, payment will be made between the 1st and 7th of February.

The value will already be updated with the new minimum wage. In the case of benefits above the floor, the government applies the readjustment of the inflation recorded in the previous year, measured by the INPC (National Consumer Price Index). The IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) will release the result of accumulated inflation in 2022 on January 10, 2023.

The period for withdrawal of card benefits is until the end of the following month (approximately 60 days) after the release of the amount in the account. If not withdrawn, the benefit goes back to the INSS, and the beneficiary needs to make a request through Meu INSS for a new deposit date.

HOLIDAYS DEFER PAYMENTS

In February, the INSS stops payments during Carnival, since on February 20th and 21st, Monday and Tuesday of Carnival, bank branches are closed. According to Febraban, branches resume service on Ash Wednesday, the 22nd, after noon.

Payments for March will not be made on Good Friday, April 7th. Releases will resume the following Monday, April 10th.

Banks will also not make new payments on the May 1st holiday, resuming deposits on the 2nd, a Tuesday.

In the August payroll, the INSS stops deposits because of September 7th, which will fall on a Thursday. The same happens with the holiday of All Souls, on November 2nd.

13th salary

Retirees, pensioners and those who receive benefits from the INSS are entitled to the 13th, paid in two installments. Beneficiaries of the BPC (Continued Benefit Benefit) and Lifetime Monthly Income do not have 13th.

The first installment of the 13th is equivalent to half the amount of the monthly benefit for insured persons who start the year as beneficiaries of the INSS. The second installment has income tax discounts, for those who are obliged to pay. Whoever starts to receive the benefit throughout the year receives the 13th proportionally.

Due to the pandemic, in 2020 and 2021 payment was made in April and May, following the usual benefits schedule.

In November 2022, the federal government fully paid the proportionate amounts to those who received retirement, pension or INSS aid last year.

For 2023, the payment dates for the 13th salary have not yet been announced. In 2019, the law that regulated the pension reform guaranteed the anticipation of the first installment of the benefit in June. The second, however, will continue to be paid in the second half, along with the November benefit.

protect the benefit

It is important to check frequently that the amount is being deposited correctly, without unknown discounts. The benefit statement, which contains the amounts, date and bank where it was paid, can be accessed through the Meu INSS website or application.

There is also the possibility of accessing the document at the bank branch, with the manager or at an ATM and even at an INSS branch. In this case, it is necessary to schedule the service through My INSS or by calling 135.

Insureds need to stay alert to avoid scams applied by gangs. Scammers get INSS insured data to take out payroll loans and make false promises of easy money with revisions and delays.
